The Grizzly Den, About Us
I created "Grizzly Flies by Schottsie" to either aid in your personal Fly Tying
or hopefully to add to your Fly Fishing Endeavors. Plus I want to supply you
the customer if you order flies, a quality fly that will hold together for more
than one hit, one snag, or one fish.

I reside in Michigan, in the Lansing/Grand Ledge area; just minutes from
the famed Grand River. I still call the Bronzeback Blue Ribbon waters of the
of the Huron River my home waters though.

I'm originally from Holton area on the Western Side of the State of
Michigan., which is minutes from the mighty Muskegon River, the White
River, and just a tad farther north the Pere Marquette River. Once I left the
Den of Holton Public Schools, I dabbled in a few things before I enlisted in
the Marine Corps and served as Assault Gunner and Forward Observer for
our Great Country.
I was interested in fly tying , and about 14 years ago, I decided to jump into
the arena of Fly Tying, and that was all she wrote. I started Fly Fishing after
everyone was using my flies and catching fish. To this day, I have 5 of my
own designed patterns that have been proven on a lot of Michigan Rivers
and the Little River System in Tennessee.

My first tying class was with Dave Oakley at Gander Mountain, with 3
classes. From there I have got my tying hands on various videos,
magazines, and books. Plus, being in the Michigan Fly Fishing Club,  I
have had the honors to sit in seminars with various tyers, such as: Oscar
Feliu, Barry & Cathy Beck, Dennis Potter, Joe Humphries, Jeff "Bear"
Andrews, Dick Talleur, Kelly Galloup, A.K.Best, and Bob Jacklin.
